CAFE PLUS- A coffee shop for suvivors and friends of the traumatic brain injury. Est. 1996.
Cafe Plus provides a safe comfortable place for survivors of traumatic brain injury, people with disabilities, friends, and families to socialize in a coffee shop environment. In this special place, visitors can learn art techniques, enjoy conversation with others, listen to music, play computer games, or enjoy a game of checkers, cards, or chess.
Currently located at 216 West Manlius Street in East Syracuse, Cafe Plus opened in 1996 and has remained a viable outlet for its visitors due to the hard work and determination of its founder and manager, David Listowski. With very little funding but a number of faithful volunteers, this community service has endured. Every Saturday, the space it occupies is transformed into a cafe atmosphere where coffee, bagels, and iced tea is but a small part of what visitors take in.
